CPC-PPP delegation meets in Islamabad

Islamabad, April 21, 2017: A Chinese delegation led by H.E. Mr. Lu Xinshe, member Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), visited Zardari House today and met delegation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) led by Vice President Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, Senator Sherry Rehman.

Both sides discussed issues of mutual interest and expressed their commitment to strengthen Pakistan-China relations as well as to deepen a long chronology of historic ties between the PPP and the Communist Party of China. Both sides recounted the role of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Mohatarma Benazir Bhutto in cementing the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries. President Zardari’s active leadership on giving China access to the Arabian Sea via Gwadar Port was appreciated as well as his focus on building consensus on CPEC even after relinquishing the Presidency was also appreciated. They appreciated the energy and vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in invigorating ties between CPC and PPP by visits and engagements since 2008. The PPP will be sending a delegation hosted by the CPC in May to study China’s growth model as well as to enhance mutual relations with the CPC’s leadership.

Members of the Chinese delegation include Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong, Ms. Zhao Hui, Director General, Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangxi Provincial Government, Zhang Xuyi, Deputy Director General, International Department of CPC Central Committee, You Ying, Deputy Secretary General, CPC Jiangxi Provincial Committee, Hu Xiaodong, Deputy Director, International Department of CPC Central Committee and Tan Wei, Third Secretary, International Department of CPC Central Committee.

The PPP delegation included Senator Farhatullah Babar, Senator Sassui Palijo, Senator Rubina Khalid, Central Information Secretary PPP Chaudhry Manzoor, Ex-Deputy Speaker National Assembly, Faisal Karim Kundi and Ex-MNA Noor Alam Khan.
