Sherry leaves for US today to assume diplomatic task
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to the United States, Sherry Rehman, on Thursday said she was leaving on Friday (today) for assuming her diplomatic assignment in Washington. She was talking to The News on Thursday.
Officially, Sherry Rehman will assume the post of ambassador on January 18, when she will present her credentials to US President Barack Obama. “I will present my credentials to President Obama on January 18,†she said.
Sherry Rehman was designated Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States after the resignation of Husain Haqqani, following the memogate. Sherry, who is an outspoken human rights activists, has resigned from the National Assembly after her appointment as the Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States. Sherry Rehman started her career as a journalist and later entered politics.
